Maintenance Manager – Luxury Hotel

About the role

The Maintenance Manager reports to the Chief Engineer and is responsible for the smooth operation of all hotel facilities. This senior position leads a team of technicians, oversees preventive maintenance programmes and ensures safety, quality and guest satisfaction across the property.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute all general maintenance tasks promptly and efficiently.
• Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance plan, conducting regular equipment checks.
• Supervise external 24‑hour contractors to guarantee timely completion of work.
• Monitor department expenses, manage budgets and record repair costs accurately.
• Prioritise maintenance requests, manage waste removal and maintain store stock levels.
• Conduct property inspections, record condition of plant, equipment and fittings.
• Lead employee relations, recruitment, training and performance appraisals within the engineering department.
• Address guest enquiries and complaints related to facilities, ensuring privacy and security procedures are followed.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Maintenance Manager or senior maintenance leader in a hotel or similar hospitality environment.
• Relevant engineering qualification (Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services or related field).
• Strong knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire safety.
• Experience managing maintenance teams, rotas and staff development.
• Good understanding of health & safety legislation and statutory compliance.
• Experience handling contractors, budgeting, cost‑control and project management.
