Merchant Acquiring Team Leader

About the role

An urgent requirement for a Merchant Acquiring Team Leader for a banking client in Bahrain. The role manages merchant acquiring product and sales initiatives to drive business growth, covering product vision, strategic partnerships, contract negotiation and building strong relationships with key decision-makers.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the merchant acquiring product roadmap and strategy, monitor product performance and plan and execute product launches
• Identify and target potential merchants, especially in strategic industries and market segments
• Develop and run sales initiatives, build a sales pipeline and manage the process from lead generation to deal closure
• Hold regular business reviews with key accounts, track revenue, commission rates and market share, and report regularly to the Head of the unit
• Negotiate merchant contracts and work with legal and compliance teams to meet regulatory standards
• Cultivate relationships with merchants and their front-line staff, and collaborate with product development and marketing teams
• Lead the team: define goals and KPIs, coach members and support performance management

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in business, banking, finance, accounting or a related discipline; Master's preferred
• Minimum 4-7 years of practical experience in a bank or a similar function
• Proven track record of success in sales

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of the payment ecosystem, including acquiring business, card networks and payment technologies
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
