Planning Engineer – Construction Projects

About the role

The Planning Engineer will join AHK Contracting’s real‑estate and construction division in Manama, Bahrain. You will be responsible for creating, maintaining and analysing construction schedules for building and civil projects, ensuring that progress aligns with client expectations and contractual milestones.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed construction schedules using Primavera P6 and, where required, MS Project.
• Prepare Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) from project drawings, scope and construction activities.
• Establish baseline programmes, target milestones and monitor actual progress against them.
• Collect daily progress data from site teams, verify its accuracy and produce weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Identify delays, critical path activities and schedule risks, and propose recovery plans.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, QS, subcontractors and other stakeholders to update schedules after variations or changes.
• Assist in Extension of Time (EOT) claims and delay analysis when required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience as a Planning Engineer on building or civil construction projects.
• Strong understanding of construction sequencing, WBS, baseline schedules and critical‑path methodology.
• Ability to read construction drawings, BOQs and project specifications.

Required skills

• Primavera P6 (expert level).
• MS Project (working knowledge).
• Advanced MS Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency.
