Principal APC Specialist

About the role

The Principal APC Specialist will work closely with the Department Manager to lead the implementation of advanced process control (APC), optimization (OPT), and related projects. Based in Manama, the role focuses on delivering turnkey solutions, supporting sales activities, and ensuring high customer satisfaction across oil & gas, refinery and chemical plant sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Lead turnkey execution of APC/OPT projects.
• Follow Yokogawa’s project implementation procedures.
• Support sales activities and conduct feasibility studies for APC projects.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations for proposals and client visits.
• Conduct remote presentations via web‑conference and demonstrate relevant technologies.
• Respond promptly to client inquiries and support sales managers to close deals.
• Stay updated on relevant technologies inside and outside Yokogawa.
• Mentor junior engineers and eventually hand over lead responsibilities.
• Report to the PSC Engineering Department Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (master’s preferred).
• 6‑8 years of experience in APC/optimization solutions and at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
• Knowledge of Yokogawa or Shell APC technology is a plus.
• Willingness to travel 40‑60% of the time.
• Understanding of oil & gas production, refineries or chemical plants.
