About the role
The Risk Officer is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Bahrain. This position is responsible for identifying, assessing, mitigating, monitoring and reporting a wide range of risks across the organization while ensuring compliance with Central Bank regulations and internal governance frameworks.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement the enterprise risk management (ERM) framework in line with Central Bank insurance regulations, internal governance and international best practices.
- Identify, assess and monitor strategic, operational, financial, regulatory/compliance, technology and cyber risks.
- Advise management on risk mitigation strategies and support business continuity planning.
- Prepare and maintain a detailed risk register, risk control matrices and related documentation.
- Conduct periodic risk assessments and sample audits to ensure compliance with the ERM framework.
- Arrange quarterly Risk Committee meetings, including updates, presentations, minutes and action plans.
- Submit annual risk reports to the Central Bank and respond to any required notifications or actions.
- Ensure compliance with Central Bank regulations applicable to insurance broking and handle regulatory or internal audits related to risk management.
- Deliver risk‑awareness training for key staff and promote a proactive risk culture.
- Perform any other risk‑management tasks or reports mandated by the Central Bank.
Required profile
- Proficiency in Enterprise Risk Management and experience implementing risk frameworks and policies.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements and ability to interpret and apply relevant regulations.
- Advanced analytical skills, including data analysis, risk modeling and critical thinking.
- Solid understanding of finance, financial instruments and risk‑related financial metrics.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, risk management or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., FRM, CFA, CRM) are a plus.
- Experience in risk and audit roles within trade credit insurance or related sectors.
- Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively on‑site.
- High ethical standards, sound judgment and a proactive approach to risk identification and mitigation.
