Safety Officer – Construction HSE Role

About the role

The Safety Officer will lead the implementation and monitoring of health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies across construction sites in Bahrain. You will ensure compliance with company standards and local regulations while fostering a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards, unsafe acts and conditions.
• Ensure adherence to company HSE policies, procedures and Bahrain labour laws.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, near‑misses and injuries, producing detailed reports with corrective actions.
• Maintain records and statistics on occupational injuries, accidents and safety performance.
• Monitor fire prevention systems, firefighting equipment and emergency response facilities.
• Perform risk assessments and recommend control measures.
• Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, awareness campaigns and training programs.
• Develop and implement annual safety awareness plans, including seminars and workshops.
• Participate in HSE committee meetings and advise supervisors and management.

Required profile

• NEBOSH Level 3 certification or equivalent safety qualification.
• Minimum three years of HSE experience in the construction industry.
• Strong knowledge of Bahrain labour laws and occupational health and safety regulations.
• Experience with high‑risk construction activities and related hazards.

Required skills

• ISO 14001 Environmental Management System knowledge.
• OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System expertise.
• Risk assessment and mitigation planning.
• Incident investigation and reporting.
• Fire safety systems inspection and maintenance.
• Selection and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Emergency preparedness and response planning.
