Senior Accountant – Insurance Sector

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support our client operating in the insurance industry. The role involves preparing financial statements, regulatory filings, and management reports while ensuring compliance with IFRS, especially IFRS 17.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management reports, budget vs. actual analysis and sales forecasts.
• Compile and submit mandatory regulatory filings within statutory deadlines.
• Draft financial statements in accordance with IFRS, with a focus on IFRS 17.
• Coordinate audit activities and provide necessary support to internal and external auditors.
• Supervise junior accountants, review their work and ensure timely task completion.
• Execute month‑end closing activities including accruals, pre‑payments, depreciation and adjustments.
• Prepare and review journal entries for branches and agencies.
• Perform reconciliations for banks, clients, insurance companies, suppliers and inter‑company accounts.
• Review claim‑related receipts, payments, refunds and supplier documents.
• Maintain the fixed assets register and manage periodic bank and supplier confirmations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field; professional qualification preferred.
• 3–6 years of accounting experience within the insurance sector.
• Strong background in regulatory reporting, management reporting and IFRS compliance.
• Working knowledge of IFRS 17 and insurance accounting standards.
