Senior Accountant - Insurance Sector

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant with solid experience in the insurance industry to join our client’s finance team. The role involves preparing statutory and management reports, ensuring IFRS compliance, and supporting audit activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management reports, including actual vs. budget and sales forecast analysis.
• Submit mandatory regulatory filings within statutory deadlines.
• Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS, focusing on IFRS 17.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors and provide audit support.
• Supervise junior accountants, review their work and ensure timely task completion.
• Execute month‑end closing activities such as accruals, pre‑payments, depreciation and adjustments.
• Prepare and review journal entries for branches and agencies.
• Perform reconciliations for banks, clients, insurance companies, suppliers and inter‑company accounts.
• Review receipts and supporting documents related to claims, payments, refunds and suppliers.
• Prepare payment vouchers, cheques and maintain the fixed assets register.
• Prepare monthly employee deduction vouchers and manage periodic bank and supplier confirmations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; professional qualification preferred.
• 3–6 years of accounting experience within the insurance sector.
• Strong background in regulatory reporting, management reporting and IFRS compliance.
• Working knowledge of IFRS 17 and insurance accounting standards.
