Senior Associate – ESG Advisory

About the role

The Senior Associate will support the delivery of ESG and sustainability advisory engagements for KPMG Bahrain’s diverse client base. You will work on developing strategies, conducting assessments and preparing sustainability reports while ensuring high quality and compliance with professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Execute assigned ESG and sustainability advisory tasks, maintaining quality, timeliness and adherence to methodologies.
• Develop ESG strategies, roadmaps, governance frameworks and performance measurement systems for clients.
• Conduct ESG assessments, benchmarking, materiality reviews and gap analyses to inform strategic decisions.
• Support client workshops, stakeholder engagement sessions and data collection programmes.
• Prepare sustainability reports aligned with GRI, ISSB, SASB and regional disclosure requirements.
• Assist clients in establishing ESG data management, validation and reporting processes.
• Identify new business opportunities, support proposal development and nurture existing client relationships.
• Supervise and review work of Associates/Analysts, providing feedback and mentorship.
• Produce accurate engagement documentation and deliverables in line with firm methodology and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, sustainability, economics, public policy, finance, business administration or related field; a master’s degree is an advantage.
• Certification in at least one sustainability reporting standard.
• 3–5 years of experience in ESG and sustainability assurance or related roles within a professional services firm.
• Proven experience managing end‑to‑end sustainability reporting engagements, from materiality assessment through to publication.

Required skills

• Knowledge of GRI, ISSB and SASB sustainability reporting frameworks.
