Setting Out Manager - Joinery Manufacturing

About the role

The Setting Out Manager coordinates and manages external and internal clients and the setting out team, ensuring a smooth flow of the project manufacturing process and client satisfaction balanced with quality and cost. The role supports divisional performance, efficiency improvements and business growth, and helps the functional head plan activities, prioritize deliveries and oversee day-to-day resource and process planning.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee assigned projects, review project details and guide the setting out team through material submissions, procurement, shop drawings, prototyping and manufacturing delivery
• Review and manage the project programme and schedules, and manage client expectations
• Lead and manage shop drawing preparation and submittals, and coordinate with production departments
• Check material details, oversee clearance for variations internally and with clients, and identify project material requirements
• Plan material procurement so materials arrive before production starts, and oversee sourcing of hardware accessories
• Identify and manage RFIs with clients, and oversee timely approval of project drawings
• Guide the issuance of cutting lists and loading lines to the factory, and coordinate with the site team on site surveys or alternative plans for fast-track projects
• Interpret contractual works requirements, follow up procurement, prepare project status reports and forecast cutting lists

Required profile

• Minimum of ten years of similar experience in a manufacturing setup
• Full track record in joinery setting out, from site survey and shop drawings through to material take-off, ordering, site working drawings and loading lines
• Experience managing a team of 15 to 20 members
• Strong technical and execution capability, able to solve technical issues and integrate materials such as glass, acrylics, stone and metals
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a multinational environment

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of manufacturing procedures and common joinery materials (timber, boards, veneers, laminates, hardware)
• Autodesk products and Microsoft Office
• Familiarity with FSC, LEED and FR standards
