Software Engineer III – Automation Test

About the role

JPMorgan Chase is seeking a seasoned Software Engineer III to lead automation testing within its Commercial and Investment Bank payments technology business. You will join an agile team to design, develop, and maintain high‑quality, secure, and scalable test solutions that support critical business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot software solutions with innovative approaches.
• Create and maintain secure production code and synchronous algorithms.
• Build and customize BDD‑based automation frameworks using Cucumber, Cypress, Selenium, and Playwright.
• Develop automated test cases, feature files, and maintain test automation suites.
• Leverage enterprise‑approved AI coding assistants to improve code quality, generation, refactoring, and documentation.
• Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while ensuring design constraints are met.
• Manage defect lifecycle, including logging, verification, re‑testing, and closure in collaboration with engineering teams.

Required profile

• Formal training or certification in software engineering with 6+ years of hands‑on experience.
• Proven experience in Agile delivery environments and a solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Functional testing expertise covering test preparation, design, execution, and reporting.
• Collaboration experience with QA, developers, and subject‑matter experts to translate business requirements into testable solutions.
