Storage Tank Inspection Engineer

About the role

CTS GLOBAL is seeking a full‑time Storage Tank Inspection Engineer to be based on‑site in Abu Dhabi. The engineer will carry out routine and scheduled inspections of hydrocarbon storage tanks, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards and client specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct visual examinations and non‑destructive testing of API 650 storage tanks.
• Measure and record tank dimensions, roof type, pontoon layout, gauge pole, ladder and appurtenance locations.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports, sketches and marked‑up drawings for engineering use.
• Document irregularities, damages or deviations and recommend corrective actions.
• Take photographic records of tank components where permitted.
• Coordinate with Mechanical Engineering, operations and quality control teams to capture required data.
• Support design phases by providing practical site observations and answering engineering queries.
• Follow all site HSE requirements, including confined‑space entry and working‑at‑height procedures.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Required skills

• Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) techniques.
• Knowledge of API 650 storage tank standards.
• Dimensional measurement and data recording of large structures.
• Inspection reporting and technical documentation.
• Photographic documentation of equipment.
• Confined‑space entry and working‑at‑height safety procedures.
