Systems Administrator – US Navy Vessel

About the role

SAIC is seeking a Systems Administrator to live aboard a US Navy expeditionary vessel for a minimum of one year. The role provides full‑time, embedded support for the ship’s IT and communications systems, both while in port and at sea.

Key responsibilities

• Install new hardware and software across the ship’s network.
• Create and manage user accounts for crew members.
• Maintain endpoint devices, servers, and networking equipment.
• Plan and respond to system outages and other technical issues.
• Coordinate with the Mission Support Center in Florida, record trouble tickets, and report work performed.
• Develop light scripts or programs to streamline system workflows.
• Train shipboard users and assistants on IT tools.
• Provide operation and maintenance support for C4I systems, with possible overtime and alternate schedules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience (or 4 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree).
• Demonstrated experience in a Systems Administrator role.
• Experience working in a Linux environment.
• Light networking experience.
• Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT Level II (or higher) certification.
• Valid US passport.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance (Secret clearance required before start).
