Tutor – Language & Culture Unit

About the role

The Language & Culture Unit at RCSI Bahrain is seeking a Tutor to deliver English for Health Sciences courses, supporting nursing and medical students. The role involves designing and delivering communicative lectures, tutorials and blended learning sessions that enhance study skills, medical terminology and professionalism.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality face‑to‑face, online or blended lectures and tutorials.
• Develop student‑centred teaching approaches, assessment methods and feedback mechanisms.
• Create learning blocks that ease the transition from secondary to tertiary education.
• Plan teaching sessions, produce and continuously improve teaching materials.
• Mark examination papers according to established schemes within required timeframes.
• Provide individual and group support, referring students with challenges to appropriate staff.
• Participate in staff meetings, contribute to LCU operational plans and collaborate with other departments.
• Engage in university‑led initiatives, professional development and uphold RCSI policies.

Required profile

• Experience in tertiary or adult education teaching.
• Extensive background in communicative teaching and academic support for young adults.
• Master’s degree in English or a recognised English language teaching qualification (e.g., CELTS, DELTA).
• Self‑motivation, strong organisational skills and ability to work within a dynamic educational team.
