Associate Underwriter – Facultative Casualty

About the role

We are looking for an Associate Underwriter – Facultative Casualty to join our General Retakaful Facultative department. The role focuses on underwriting casualty, liability and financial lines, building strong relationships with cedants and brokers, and supporting new business development across MENA markets.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite casualty, liability and financial lines, ensuring alignment with the company’s underwriting philosophy.
• Promote and maintain excellent relationships with cedants and brokers.
• Participate in the design, evaluation, communication and execution of new business development strategies.
• Represent the company at seminars and conferences and provide training to business partners as required.
• Monitor market developments, technical changes, capacity, rating levels and trends, and assess their impact on underwriting decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (Master’s degree is a plus).
• Professional insurance qualification (e.g., ACII, CPCU) is advantageous.
• 5‑7 years of experience in a similar underwriting role.
• Strong marketing, communication and negotiation abilities.
• Extensive network and market understanding in the MENA region.
• Fluent in English and Arabic.

Required skills

• Proficiency with digital underwriting platforms and AI‑enabled tools such as Copilot.
