Bid Manager

About the role

The Bid Manager will support the division’s performance by enhancing client offerings and improving price positioning to drive business activity. Reporting to the department head, the role oversees day‑to‑day estimation management, ensuring continuous improvement of strike ratios and timely bid submissions.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all estimation‑related processes, interpreting tender documents, drawings, technical and commercial specifications.
• Review and prepare bills of quantities and scrutinise contract documents.
• Lead and supervise the estimating team, planning workload and post‑tender project handovers.
• Develop bid cost estimates, maintain the bid calendar and ensure compliance with submission deadlines.
• Prepare material take‑offs for the purchasing department and coordinate with setting‑out and production teams.
• Maintain and expand the supplier database, pre‑qualifying new companies.
• Support cost control, establish estimating policies, and manage retention of bid documents.
• Collaborate with the department head to prioritise and review the bid calendar.

Required profile

• University degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or equivalent.
• 10–15 years of experience in estimation for large‑size joinery manufacturing companies.
• Strong knowledge of high‑quality joinery product estimation and commercial/contractual issues.
• Proven senior‑level leadership in the joinery manufacturing industry.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Good situational awareness of the industry and familiarity with interior materials.
