Project Director – Design

About the role

AECOM is seeking a Project Director – Design to lead large‑scale infrastructure projects. The role involves overseeing design delivery, ensuring projects meet budget, quality and schedule targets while fostering strong client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams through the full design lifecycle.
• Manage project budgets, financial performance and contract variations.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, identifying repeat and new business opportunities.
• Drive business development activities, including proposal preparation and networking.
• Mentor junior staff and promote AECOM safety initiatives.
• Coordinate with civil infrastructure discipline leaders to ensure integrated delivery.
• Prepare and negotiate contracts, service agreements and funding arrangements.
• Represent the project at client briefings, workshops and stakeholder meetings.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in managing large infrastructure design projects.
• Strong knowledge of the relevant technical specialty and overall project management principles.
• Proven ability to manage financial performance and contract administration.
• Excellent client‑facing skills with a track record of securing repeat business.
• Leadership capability to guide and develop junior team members.
