Senior AI/ML Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior AI/ML Engineer to lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced AI solutions for the oil & gas sector. You will work within a multidisciplinary Project Delivery team to transform complex plant data into actionable insights and autonomous control systems.

Key responsibilities

• Develop dynamic process simulation models to evaluate multiple plant scenarios.
• Perform exploratory data analysis, data preprocessing, and generate intelligent recommendations.
• Implement classical machine‑learning and reinforcement‑learning models for soft sensors and autonomous plant control.
• Design AI models that diagnose plant upsets and support asset performance management across maintenance strategies.
• Leverage Generative AI, large language models, and multi‑agent systems for collaborative decision‑making.
• Ensure AI solutions are scalable, deployable, and integrated with PLC, DCS, SCADA, historians, EAM, MES/MOM, SCM, and ERP platforms.
• Maintain compliance with ethical AI principles, focusing on fairness, transparency, and bias mitigation.

Required profile

• Proven leadership in delivering AI/ML projects within high‑stakes industrial environments.
• Deep knowledge of upstream, midstream, and downstream oil & gas processes, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Experience creating process simulations from PFDs and P&IDs and troubleshooting plant operations.
• Strong background in handling large‑scale time‑series and sensor/IoT data.
• Expertise in supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning, statistical modelling, and optimization techniques.
• Hands‑on experience with Generative AI, Retrieval‑Augmented Generation, vector embeddings, and multi‑agent architectures.
• Successful deployments on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and edge AI for real‑time decision making.
