Senior Draftsman – Civil & Structural Projects

About the role

The Senior Draftsman will be responsible for producing accurate technical drawings for civil and structural projects, supporting the design‑to‑construction workflow and delivering as‑built documentation. The role requires close coordination with site teams, consultants and project managers to ensure drawings meet project specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare complete working plans, sections, elevations, charts, scale drawings and revisions using CAD software.
• Develop setting‑out layouts based on consultant and client drawings.
• Produce as‑built drawings reflecting actual site execution.
• Coordinate with site teams, clients, consultants and line managers throughout the project lifecycle.
• Assist the quantity surveying team by extracting quantities and areas from drawings.
• Design layouts, sections and detailed drawings for roads, drainage, earthworks, grading profiles and topographic maps.
• Prepare and submit shop drawings and proposal drawings for tender submissions.
• Supervise junior draftsmen and manage drafting personnel.
• Perform scanning, printing, office administration tasks, work scheduling and invoicing for sections/divisions.
• Maintain document control procedures, drawing numbering systems and electronic archives of shop and as‑built drawings.
• Prepare Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) and perform quantity/area take‑offs.

Required profile

• Diploma in Civil Engineering, Architecture or a Draughtsman qualification.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience, preferably with GCC exposure.
• Strong knowledge of architectural, civil and structural drafting practices.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation and Civil 3D.
• Ability to prepare shop drawings, as‑built drawings and tender proposal drawings.
• Experience in quantity and area take‑offs from drawings.
• Familiarity with document control procedures, drawing numbering and electronic archiving.
