Switchgear Engineer (Power & GIS)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Switchgear Engineer to join a reputable company operating in the petroleum, oil & gas and power sectors in Bahrain. The role focuses on the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of high‑voltage GIS and metal‑clad switchgear systems.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot 220 kV and 66 kV GIS installations.
• Install, test and commission GIS equipment, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Maintain 33 kV/21 kV/11 kV metal‑clad switchgear, circuit breakers and busbars.
• Lead multi‑discipline projects, supervise on‑site crews and manage project timelines.
• Make technical decisions and provide leadership to ensure safe and efficient system performance.

Required profile

• BE/B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in GIS installation, testing and commissioning.
• Hands‑on experience with metal‑clad switchgear maintenance.
• Previous work with OEMs or OEM channel partners.
• Strong project management and supervision capabilities.
