UFD Loader Operator – Slag Removal

About the role

The UFD Loader Operator is responsible for safely removing, transporting, and disposing of slag generated during steel production. This position ensures continuous plant operation while complying with safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the Universal Front‑end Loader (UFD) to extract slag from furnaces, ladles, and designated pits.
• Transport slag to approved disposal or processing zones following regulatory requirements.
• Monitor slag cooling and solidification to guarantee safe handling.
• Conduct pre‑operation inspections and routine maintenance on the UFD loader.
• Coordinate with furnace operators, production teams, control room, and yard personnel for seamless workflow.
• Document slag quantities and disposal records accurately.
• Identify and report any abnormalities in slag composition or equipment performance.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of slag handling areas and adhere to PPE protocols.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience operating heavy‑duty loaders in steel manufacturing or similar heavy‑industrial settings.
• Proven experience in slag handling and removal is highly preferred.
• Valid heavy‑equipment operator license or certification.
• Familiarity with steelmaking processes, especially Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) or Basic Oxygen Furnace (BOF) operations.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical and hydraulic systems.
