Assistant/Associate Professor – Architecture

About the role

The British University of Bahrain, in partnership with the University of Salford, invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor in Architecture. This role combines teaching, research, and industry engagement within a supportive, international academic community.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching across undergraduate and short‑programme modules.
• Supervise student projects, field trips, and placement activities.
• Contribute to curriculum design and programme development.
• Conduct impactful research and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Lead and mentor junior colleagues, fostering professional growth.
• Collaborate with industry, public‑sector, and community partners.

Required profile

• First degree in Architecture and a postgraduate qualification in a related subject.
• Full professional membership of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
• Experience teaching in higher education OR a minimum of five years’ professional architectural practice.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and mentoring abilities.
• Commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
• Desirable: PhD in Architecture or related field (or progressing towards one), registration with the Architects Registration Board (ARB), and experience in programme design, funded research, and industry engagement.
