Assistant/Associate Professor – Architecture

About the role

The British University of Bahrain, in partnership with the University of Salford, invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor in Architecture. This position offers the chance to shape teaching, research, and industry collaboration within a supportive, international academic community.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver high‑quality teaching across undergraduate and short‑programme modules.
• Supervise student projects, field trips, and placement activities.
• Contribute to curriculum design and programme development.
• Conduct impactful research and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Lead and mentor colleagues, fostering academic and professional growth.
• Collaborate with industry, public‑sector, and community partners.

Required profile

• First degree in Architecture and a postgraduate qualification in a related subject.
• Full professional membership of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).
• Experience teaching in higher education OR a minimum of five years’ professional practice.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and mentoring abilities.
• Commitment to personal and professional development.
• Desirable: PhD in Architecture or related field (or progressing towards one), registration with the Architects Registration Board (ARB), experience in programme design, funded research, and industry engagement.
