Associate Factory Manager

About the role

The Associate Factory Manager will lead a large joinery manufacturing operation of over 700 workers, overseeing the production of display cases, bespoke interiors, and other joinery products. The role focuses on improving efficiency, quality, and capacity while aligning the plant with European manufacturing standards.

Key responsibilities

• Enhance existing processes, propose mechanisation, and drive continuous improvement across the production cycle.
• Manage daily shop‑floor activities, monitor workload across sections (assembly, milling, veneer, polishing, upholstery, etc.), and ensure smooth operations.
• Develop production schedules, allocate work with supervisors, and adjust plans as needed.
• Oversee CNC laser and machining operations, optimise machining for quality and productivity.
• Lead new product development, selecting machines, tools, fixtures, and inspection methods.
• Raise manufacturing standards to match European best practices in housekeeping, health & safety, and planning.
• Increase capacity efficiently, improve product quality, and resolve technical bottlenecks.
• Coordinate with metal, purchasing, stores, logistics, and H&S functions.
• Manage staff recruitment, performance, development, and training to meet business goals.

Required profile

• 10‑15 years of experience in factory management within a large furniture or joinery manufacturing company.
• Proven ability to lead a workforce of 700+ employees.
• Strong technical and execution skills with a focus on capacity management.
• Deep knowledge of woodworking, joinery construction methods, finishes, timber, veneers, and related machinery.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing principles is a plus.
