Careers Specialist

About the role

The Careers Specialist supports the Careers Lead in a dynamic academic environment, coordinating daily operations, planning activities, and providing career guidance to students and graduates. The role involves managing projects, producing reports, maintaining databases, and organizing events to enhance career services.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Careers Lead with day‑to‑day operations and planning of activities, programs, and speakers.
• Monitor inboxes, respond to enquiries, and provide career information to students and graduates.
• Manage projects and programmes directed by the Career Lead and present postgraduate options to students.
• Organise gatherings, talks, events, and book rooms or conference facilities.
• Produce periodic reports and analysis for senior management.
• Maintain and update the Zoho Database with student details.
• Prepare letters, forms, documents, and print/e‑materials for career services.
• Update the Careers Guidance page on the VLE and manage printed guidance materials.
• Use Microsoft Office tools to create correspondence, presentations, records, and spreadsheets.
• Coordinate travel and accommodation for career events and undergo training as required.

Required profile

• Highly motivated individual with a bachelor’s degree.
• Previous experience in an academic or student‑facing setting (desirable).
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Intercultural competence and ability to work in a diverse environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours as needed.
