CEO & Head of Coverage – Bahrain

About the role

The role combines the responsibilities of Country CEO and Head of Coverage for Standard Chartered in Bahrain. You will be the senior executive accountable for the bank’s overall performance, strategy execution, governance and risk management while leading the Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) coverage function in the market.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the global and regional strategy for the Bahrain subsidiary, ensuring alignment with short‑term and long‑term objectives.
• Lead the country’s business plan, overseeing people, premises, technology and operational resilience.
• Drive the CIB coverage strategy, coordinating with cluster and group teams to maximise shareholder value.
• Oversee material risk decisions, ensuring compliance with risk tolerances and regulatory requirements.
• Manage corporate development and M&A activities within Bahrain.
• Represent the bank as its ambassador, maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and regulators.
• Foster a high‑performance culture and ensure effective governance across all functions.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in banking or financial services.
• Proven track record in strategy implementation, risk oversight and regulatory compliance.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to lead large, matrixed teams and drive cultural transformation.
