Chief Risk Officer – Bahrain

About the role

The organization is seeking a seasoned Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to lead its enterprise‑wide risk management function in Bahrain. The CRO will shape risk strategy, ensure regulatory compliance, and embed a strong risk culture across the entity.

Key responsibilities

• Establish, maintain, and oversee the enterprise‑wide risk management framework, aligning practices with regulatory expectations and industry standards.
• Identify, assess, and monitor credit, market, operational, and liquidity risks, ensuring appropriate limits, controls, and monitoring processes.
• Develop and maintain the risk appetite framework and limit structures; prepare risk reports for senior management and governance committees.
• Oversee risk analytics, scenario analysis, and stress‑testing processes, applying robust methodologies for risk measurement and reporting.
• Ensure risk management practices comply with Central Bank of Bahrain regulations and support related regulatory engagements.
• Promote an effective risk governance culture and build risk competencies within the risk management function.

Required profile

• 5‑7 years of experience in a risk management function within financial services or a regulated industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
• Professional qualification such as FRM, PRM, CFA, ARM, or equivalent is preferred.
• Strong understanding of prudential risk measures, risk analytics, risk reporting, and enterprise‑wide risk frameworks.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards affecting financial institutions in Bahrain.
• Experience preparing risk reports for senior management and regulatory bodies.
• Demonstrated professional integrity and sound judgment.
