Chief Risk Officer (CRO)

About the role

The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) provides strategic leadership and oversight of the organisation’s risk management framework. Working closely with senior leadership, the CRO integrates risk considerations into strategic planning and decision‑making to protect business objectives, financial performance, reputation and long‑term sustainability.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain enterprise‑wide risk management policies, standards and processes.
• Identify emerging risks, evaluate potential impacts and monitor risk exposure across strategic, operational, financial, regulatory, technology, cybersecurity, third‑party and reputational domains.
• Oversee risk assessments and reporting, delivering clear insights on risk trends, mitigation activities and control effectiveness to senior management and governance bodies.
• Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit, Technology, Operations and other functions to ensure coordinated risk management practices.
• Monitor external changes—including regulatory developments, market conditions and technological trends—to anticipate new risks or opportunities.
• Review the effectiveness of risk controls, identify gaps and recommend improvements to strengthen overall risk capability.
• Support business continuity, crisis management, scenario planning and resilience initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in enterprise risk management, governance and internal controls.
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking and judgment abilities.
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Ability to translate complex risk information into actionable recommendations.
