Chief Risk Officer

About the role

The Chief Risk Officer will lead the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of the risk management framework for a licensed financial entity. Reporting to senior leadership, the CRO will ensure that operational, financial, regulatory and strategic risks are identified, assessed, mitigated and monitored across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Design and oversee a comprehensive risk management framework aligned with regulatory requirements.
• Identify, assess and monitor risks across credit, market, liquidity, operational and regulatory domains.
• Collaborate with senior executives and business units to embed a risk‑aware culture.
• Lead interactions with regulators, manage audits and ensure compliance assessments are completed.
• Provide risk reporting and analysis to the board and senior management.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of risk management experience in a licensed financial institution or bank.
• Proven track record managing multiple risk types (credit, operational, market, liquidity, regulatory).
• Experience dealing with regulatory bodies and handling audits.
• Professional qualification such as FRM, PRM or CFA.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting complex risk information.
• Willingness to relocate to Bahrain.
