Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer (Infonas)

About the role

Zain Bahrain's Infonas division is hiring a Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer in Manama to support the deployment, management and maintenance of the organization's cloud (AWS) and on-premises IT infrastructure. The role focuses on system availability, cloud resource provisioning, monitoring infrastructure health and resolving routine technical issues, while building expertise in cloud architecture and IT operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in provisioning, configuring and managing core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, IAM) under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Monitor cloud resource utilization, infrastructure health and application performance using AWS CloudWatch and internal tools.
• Provide day-to-day administration and troubleshooting for on-premises servers, virtual machines and basic network configurations.
• Support security best practices: manage IAM permissions, configure security groups and assist with routine patching and updates.
• Help automate repetitive tasks and deployments with basic scripting (Python, Bash or PowerShell).
• Respond to Level 1 and Level 2 support tickets and escalate complex issues to senior team members.
• Create and maintain documentation of configurations, SOPs and runbooks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cloud Computing, System Engineering or a related field.
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner required; AWS Solutions Architect Associate or SysOps Administrator Associate highly preferred.
• CompTIA Network+, Security+ or basic ITIL is a nice-to-have.
• 0 to 2 years of experience in IT operations, helpdesk, systems administration or cloud infrastructure; hands-on AWS console experience is acceptable for entry-level candidates.
• Experience troubleshooting Linux and Windows servers and exposure to basic networking.

Required skills

• Foundational understanding of AWS compute, storage, database and network services.
• Basic command-line administration of Linux (Ubuntu, Amazon Linux) and Windows Server.
• Networking basics: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs and subnetting.
• Ability to write basic scripts in Python, Bash or PowerShell.
• Introductory knowledge of IaC tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation is a strong advantage.
