Electrical Instructor

About the role

The Electrical Instructor reports to the Head of Technical Training and is responsible for designing, delivering, and assessing technical training programmes for electrical personnel at the BMP refinery. The role supports both new‑hire onboarding and ongoing competency development for existing staff.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct training needs analysis and develop accredited diploma and certificate courses.
• Create unit‑specific lesson plans, manuals and supplemental instructional materials.
• Deliver competency‑based training on electrical systems, high‑voltage switching, hazardous‑area classification, reliability monitoring, and maintenance procedures.
• Assess and validate trainee performance for scheduled maintenance, shutdowns, turnarounds, and emergency response.
• Maintain detailed training records and provide on‑the‑job support to ensure knowledge transfer.
• Continuously review and update courses to align with the competency framework and industry best practices.
• Coordinate with external training providers and manage internal communications for training schedules.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, including at least 3 years in developing and delivering training for oil refineries or large process industries.
• Certified Assessor / Internal Verifier for competency‑based assessment preferred.
• Proven experience as a technical instructor in plant and process engineering.
