General Accountant – Finance & Tax Specialist

About the role

The General Accountant will oversee daily accounting transactions and ensure tax‑related activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies. This role supports the finance team by maintaining accurate records, coordinating with banks, and preparing statutory reports.

Key responsibilities

• Control and maintain the integrity of general accounts in line with FCA standards and accounting best practices.
• Review cashier activities and perform checks and balances as needed.
• Oversee treasury functions, including money transfers, bank charges, wire transfers, and telex payments, ensuring accuracy before submission to the Chief General Accountant.
• Prepare data for the annual budget and submit it to the Chief General Accountant.
• Monitor implementation of tax regulations across all departments and stay updated on new tax decrees.
• Conduct internal audits, recommend corrective actions, and follow up on implementation.
• Validate payments, complete required tax and VAT forms, and forward them to the Accounting Manager for approval.
• Develop and update statutory and fiscal reports for government tax controllers and monthly sales reporting.
• Perform monthly bank and affiliate reconciliations, maintain a trial balance audit file, and address any irregularities.
• Manage subsidy applications, refunds, and coordinate bank-related activities at the national level.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• 2–3 years of professional accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of FCA regulations and standard accounting practices.
• Familiarity with tax compliance, VAT reporting, and statutory filing requirements.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
