General Manager – Navy Exchange (Revenue $50‑75M)

About the role

The General Manager leads all activities across the main Exchange branches, ensuring alignment with the Navy Exchange Program mission. Reporting directly to the Commanding Officer, this senior leader drives operational performance, customer service excellence, and financial results.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate all phases of Exchange operations, aligning associate efforts with program requirements.
• Conduct regular inspections, identify deficiencies, and oversee corrective actions.
• Maximize utilization of facilities, equipment, cash, and personnel while ensuring compliance with departmental, Command, and NEXCOM directives.
• Achieve sales and profit targets set by the NEXCOM business strategy.
• Review operational reports, initiate corrective measures, and supervise subordinate managers.
• Approve leave, enforce work rules, develop internal policies, and manage training programs.
• Oversee merchandise receipt, pricing, storage, and documentation procedures.
• Lead facility master planning, capital project preparation, and execution.
• Implement and coordinate security, safety, and fire‑protection programs.
• Maintain custody, protection, and accountability of Exchange property and funds.
• Promote community engagement and execute sales promotion initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven senior management experience in a retail or exchange environment.
• Strong knowledge of military or government operational directives is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large teams, manage budgets, and drive profitability.
• Excellent decision‑making, inspection, and corrective‑action skills.
• Experience in facility planning, capital project oversight, and security program management.
