Health & Safety Officer

About the role

The Health & Safety Officer will lead the development and implementation of occupational health and safety programs across our production and support operations in Bahrain. You will work closely with management, external authorities, and the H&S team to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with local legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and update H&S policies, procedures, manuals and quality documentation.
• Identify workplace hazards, conduct risk assessments and implement preventive measures.
• Manage the Health & Safety team, providing training and guidance on audits and emergency response.
• Liaise with government ministries and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and smooth operations.
• Investigate incidents, determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Audit local OHS compliance, emergency preparedness and hazardous waste management.
• Maintain up‑to‑date documentation, emergency response plans and ensure legislative compliance.

Required profile

• Bahraini nationals with at least 3 years of HSE experience, or expatriates with 6 years or more.
• Strong knowledge of Bahrain HSE laws, reporting requirements and liaison procedures.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Health & Safety Management qualification (preferred).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and training abilities.
• Positive attitude, integrity and a strong sense of responsibility.

Required skills

• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent).
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Computer proficiency (MS Office, HSE software).
• Knowledge of Bahrain occupational health and safety regulations.
