Lead Accounts Officer

About the role

The Lead Accounts Officer will act as the primary liaison between the Head of Accounts Payable, internal stakeholders, and external vendors. This senior position supports the accounts payable function by ensuring timely processing of payments, maintaining accurate records, and driving process improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the main point of contact for all accounts payable inquiries.
• Review and approve payments efficiently, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Monitor dashboards, vendor balances, aged payables, and outstanding advances, providing data for analysis.
• Maintain accurate documentation, reconcile vendor statements and employee expenses, and resolve discrepancies.
• Escalate critical issues to the Head of Accounts Payable and Finance Director for timely decision‑making.
• Collaborate with IT to automate and streamline accounts payable processes.
• Enhance existing reports and create new ones to meet business needs.
• Assist in developing and implementing accounts payable policies and procedures.
• Train and mentor accounts payable staff on best practices.
• Liaise with external auditors and support VAT/internal tax audits.
• Perform ad‑hoc projects assigned by the Head of Accounts Payable.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar accounts payable or finance role.
• Semi‑qualified Chartered Accountant, Bachelor/Master of Commerce, or equivalent qualification.
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with vendors and internal teams.
• Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication in English; proficiency in Arabic is a plus.
• Experience leading a team of accountants and streamlining accounting processes.
