Production Engineer (Bahraini Hire)

About the role

Fives Services Gulf, the Fives service centre for the Middle East with a team of 160 people across Bahrain, UAE and Saudi Arabia, is looking for a Production Engineer. The role reviews and manages all production and repairable activities in the workshop so that they comply with engineering designs, company policies, international and industry standards, and supports the delivery of workshop operations.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule and oversee daily workshop operations, prioritise jobs by delivery needs, customer urgency, material availability and manpower, and escalate delays or bottlenecks.
• Review engineering drawings, job cards and specifications before work starts, remove obsolete documents and coordinate with Engineering on deviations and revisions.
• Define the repair or manufacturing method, tools, equipment, manpower and work instructions, and verify that materials, spare parts and approved documents are available before releasing work.
• Coordinate with QA/QC on inspections, hold points and acceptance criteria, and ensure non-conformities are recorded, investigated and corrected.
• Track productivity, man-hours, equipment utilisation, material usage and rework, and compare actual performance against targets.
• Monitor the financial performance of orders, including job-level expenditure, overtime, material budgets and subcontracted works, and report variances.
• Ensure completed jobs are documented and closed with hours, materials used, technical findings and inspection records, and maintain traceability records for audits and quality requirements.
• Work with the Workshop Manager on strategies, process improvement, 5S and lean practices, and support the annual budget and subcontractor selection.
• Assess equipment, tools and jigs, oversee annual maintenance contracts and SLAs, and lead training on production practices.
• Provide technical guidance to technicians and supervisors, investigate recurring problems, and ensure safety risks are assessed, toolbox talks and permits to work are carried out.
