Senior Infrastructure Engineer - Active Directory & VMware (L3/SME)

About the role

An experienced and technically strong Active Directory and VMware SME / L3 Engineer is sought to manage, support, troubleshoot and optimise enterprise IT infrastructure. The role suits a Bahraini national with 10-15 years of experience, who can lead technical discussions, resolve complex infrastructure issues and independently manage customer engagements.

Key responsibilities

• Design, administer, maintain and troubleshoot Active Directory environments, including AD DS, GPOs, DNS, DHCP, domain controllers, user and computer accounts, authentication, authorization and access control
• Troubleshoot AD replication, authentication, Group Policy and domain connectivity issues, and support AD security, hardening, auditing and identity management
• Manage AD upgrades, migrations and infrastructure improvements
• Administer VMware vSphere and ESXi, vCenter, VMs, clusters, resource allocation and high availability; support HA, DRS, vMotion and Storage vMotion
• Provision, configure, patch and upgrade VMs, monitor performance and recommend improvements
• Provide L3 support for critical incidents, lead root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
• Resolve escalated incidents within SLAs, support major incident management and develop technical documentation and knowledge articles
• Lead customer-facing technical discussions and workshops, act as the primary technical point of contact and mentor L1/L2 engineers

Required profile

• 10-15 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration and enterprise infrastructure support
• Proven L3 support, advanced troubleshooting and escalation management experience
• Strong customer-facing communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently and lead technical discussions with customers

Required skills

• Microsoft Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, AD replication, authentication and access management
• VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, HA, DRS and vMotion
• Enterprise-scale Windows Server and VMware environments
• Preferred: VMware VCP or equivalent, Windows Server / Active Directory certifications, PowerShell scripting, ITIL-based support, knowledge of monitoring, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity
