Senior Transaction Monitoring Specialist

About the role

CoinMENA is seeking a Senior Transaction Monitoring Specialist to lead the day‑to‑day operation of its AML/CFT transaction monitoring framework. The role reports to the Head of Compliance and works across the organisation to ensure regulatory adherence.

Key responsibilities

• Own daily transaction monitoring for both entities, adjudicating alerts, conducting enhanced due diligence and escalating cases within service levels.
• Investigate unusual or suspicious activity, document findings to audit‑ready standards and prepare internal escalation reports for the MLRO/DMLRO.
• Review and tune monitoring rules, thresholds and scenarios to reduce false positives while maintaining coverage of known typologies.
• Develop and maintain transaction monitoring typologies and red‑flag indicators for emerging virtual‑asset risks.
• Perform quality assurance, test AML monitoring processes and recommend corrective actions.
• Review client due‑diligence documentation in relation to monitoring outcomes and approve or reject records.
• Stay current on AML and virtual‑asset regulatory developments and support the Head of Compliance in programme implementation.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience in compliance, AML or financial crime within a regulated VASP.
• CAMs certification required; additional ICA Advanced Certification or Diploma is an advantage.
• Strong understanding of AML/CFT typologies, red‑flag indicators and virtual‑asset risks.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Excel and data‑analysis tools.
• Hands‑on experience with transaction monitoring systems and case‑management/screening tools.
• Familiarity with blockchain analytics tools such as Chainalysis, Elliptic or TRM.
