Setting Out Manager – Manufacturing

About the role

The Setting Out Manager will lead the coordination of internal and external clients together with the setting‑out team to ensure smooth project manufacturing, quality, cost performance and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage external/internal client relationships and the setting‑out team.
• Support divisional performance and drive efficiency improvements.
• Assist the functional head in planning activities, prioritising deliveries and overseeing day‑to‑day resource management.
• Review project details and guide the setting‑out process, including material submissions, procurement, shop‑drawing development, prototyping and manufacturing delivery.
• Monitor project programmes, schedules and client expectations.
• Oversee shop‑drawing preparation, submittal processes and clearance of variations.
• Identify material requirements, manage procurement and ensure materials arrive before production starts.
• Handle RFIs, source hardware accessories and optimise where possible.
• Manage the timely approval of project drawings and issuance of cutting lists and loading lines to the factory.
• Coordinate site surveys or alternative solutions for fast‑track projects.
• Interpret contractual requirements and follow up on project‑related procurement.
• Prepare project status reports and forward‑plan cutting‑list schedules.

Required profile

• Minimum ten years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven track record in all aspects of joinery setting out, from site surveys to shop‑drawing, cutting‑list creation, material take‑off, ordering and loading‑line preparation.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing procedures and common joinery materials such as timber, boards, veneers and laminates.
