Setting Out Manager

About the role

The Setting Out Manager will lead the coordination of internal and external clients and the setting‑out team to ensure smooth project manufacturing flow, client satisfaction, and balanced quality‑cost performance. This senior position supports divisional performance, drives efficiency improvements, and collaborates closely with production, procurement, and site teams.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee assigned projects, reviewing details and guiding setting‑out processes such as material submissions, procurement, shop‑drawing development, prototyping and manufacturing delivery.
• Manage project programmes, schedules and client expectations, ensuring timely approval of shop drawings and cutting lists.
• Coordinate with production departments, verify material specifications, and clear variations internally and with clients.
• Identify material requirements, lead procurement planning, and ensure all materials arrive before production starts.
• Handle RFIs, source hardware accessories, and optimise procurement where possible.
• Arrange site surveys or alternative setting‑out plans for fast‑track projects, interpreting contractual obligations.
• Prepare project status reports and forward‑plan schedules for cutting‑list issuance.

Required profile

• Minimum ten years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in joinery setting out.
• Proven track record in managing shop‑drawing preparation, material take‑off, ordering, and loading‑line issuance.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing procedures and common joinery materials such as timber, boards, veneers and laminates.
• Experience coordinating with production, procurement and site teams to meet project deadlines.
