Setting Out Manager – Manufacturing & Joinery

About the role

The Setting Out Manager will coordinate internal and external clients and lead the setting‑out team to ensure smooth project manufacturing, quality, cost performance and client satisfaction. You will support divisional performance, drive efficiency improvements and work closely with functional heads to plan and prioritize activities in line with strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee assigned projects, reviewing details and guiding the setting‑out process from material submission to manufacturing delivery.
• Control project programmes, schedules and client expectations, ensuring timely shop‑drawing preparation and submittal.
• Coordinate with production departments, verify material specifications, and obtain clearances for any discrepancies.
• Identify material requirements, oversee procurement and planning so that all items arrive before production starts.
• Handle RFIs, source hardware accessories, and optimise procurement where possible.
• Manage the issuance of cutting lists and loading lines to the factory.
• Collaborate with site teams for surveys or alternative setting‑out plans on fast‑track projects.
• Interpret contractual requirements, prepare project status reports and forward‑plan schedules for cutting‑list issuance.

Required profile

• Minimum ten years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in joinery setting‑out.
• Proven track record in managing shop drawings, material take‑off, ordering and site working drawings.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing procedures and common joinery materials such as timber, boards, veneers and laminates.
