About the role

The Setting Out Manager will lead the internal and external client coordination and the Setting Out team to ensure smooth project manufacturing, quality, cost performance and client satisfaction. The role supports divisional performance, efficiency improvements and continuous process optimisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee effective management of assigned projects, reviewing details and guiding the setting out team through material submissions, procurement, shop drawings, prototyping and manufacturing delivery.
  • Review and control project programmes, schedules and client expectations, ensuring timely shop drawing preparation and submittal.
  • Lead coordination with production departments, verify material details, and manage clearance for internal and client‑related variations.
  • Oversee specification reviews, obtain clearances for discrepancies, and identify material requirements for each project.
  • Direct material procurement and planning to guarantee arrival before production starts, including sourcing hardware accessories and optimising where possible.
  • Identify and manage RFIs with clients, and ensure timely approval of project drawings.
  • Provide guidance for cutting list issuance, loading lines and coordinate site surveys or alternative fast‑track setting out plans.
  • Interpret contractual work requirements, prepare project status reports and forecast cutting list schedules for manufacturing.

Required profile

  • Minimum ten years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in joinery setting out from site survey through to material ordering and loading lines.
  • Proven track record of managing a team of 15‑20 members and delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong technical and execution capabilities, able to resolve complex material integration issues (glass, acrylic, stone, metals, fabrics).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working in a multinational environment.

Required skills

  • Proficiency with Autodesk products.
  • Advanced use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of FSC, LEED and FR standards.
  • In‑depth understanding of joinery materials such as timber, boards, veneers, laminates and hardware.
  • Experience with material procurement planning and cutting list preparation.
