Setting Out Manager – Manufacturing Projects

About the role

The Setting Out Manager will lead the coordination of internal and external clients and the Setting Out team to ensure smooth project manufacturing, delivering high client satisfaction while balancing quality, cost and schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of setting out activities, from site surveys and material take‑off to shop drawing preparation, cutting list issuance and loading line planning.
• Manage project programmes, schedules and client expectations, ensuring timely approval of drawings and procurement of materials.
• Lead coordination with production departments, verify material specifications, handle variations and resolve discrepancies between design specifications and manufacturing details.
• Identify and process RFIs, supervise hardware accessory sourcing and optimise procurement.
• Prepare regular project status reports and forward‑plan cutting list issuance to manufacturing.
• Collaborate with site teams to arrange surveys or alternative setting‑out plans for fast‑track projects.

Required profile

• Minimum ten years of experience in a manufacturing environment, specifically in joinery setting out.
• Proven track record of managing complete setting‑out cycles, including site surveys, shop drawings, material take‑off, ordering and loading line preparation.
• Strong understanding of joinery materials such as timber, boards, veneers and laminates.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills to liaise with clients and internal functional areas.
