Sous Chef – Main Kitchen (Luxury Resort)

About the role

Jumeirah Gulf of Bahrain Resort & Spa is seeking an experienced Sous Chef for its Main Kitchen. You will work alongside the Executive Sous Chef to uphold Jumeirah’s renowned culinary standards and deliver exceptional dining experiences for guests at this luxury beachfront property.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain culinary standards for all kitchen specialties, including banqueting.
• Plan menus, develop recipes and coordinate food tastings for executive approval.
• Inspect food stores and refrigeration twice daily, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Monitor spoilage, manage stock turnover, and maintain accurate inventories.
• Control daily food preparation costs, quality, quantities and portion sizes.
• Operate the hot plate during service and guarantee presentation meets brand standards.
• Train kitchen staff on proper use of equipment and machinery.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of experience in a similar role within the luxury hospitality sector.
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Food & Beverage or a related field.

Required skills

• Menu planning and recipe development.
• Food safety and health‑regulation compliance.
• Cost control and portion‑size management.
• Knowledge of culinary standards and banquet operations.
