Sous Chef – Pastry Kitchen

About the role

The Jumeirah Gulf of Bahrain Resort & Spa is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to lead its Pastry Kitchen. You will be responsible for overseeing all pastry and bakery operations, ensuring high‑quality desserts and baked goods that meet the brand’s luxury standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in preparing and controlling the departmental budget, maintaining strict cost control.
• Collaborate with Executive Chefs and other Sous Chefs to manage food costs and uphold quality standards.
• Drive innovation in pastry and bakery, continuously upgrading SOPs in line with Jumeirah policies.
• Plan menus and design standard recipes to ensure consistent, high‑quality production.
• Coordinate with Purchasing and Back‑of‑House managers for efficient stock and inventory control.
• Monitor and enhance pastry and bakery food quality, profitability, and presentation.
• Delegate tasks to a diverse team, ensuring smooth operations and superior output.

Required profile

• 5‑8 years of experience in the pastry field, with 3‑5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Culinary, Food & Beverage, or a related field.
• Strong maturity, passion, commitment, flexibility, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to diplomatically handle all F&B matters, representing the hotel’s reputation.
