Deck Hand – Team Seamen-8

About the role

Svitzer, a global leader in towage and related services, is seeking a Deck Hand for its Team Seamen-8. The role supports safe and efficient vessel operations, contributing to the readiness of the tug fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Master in all deck and engine‑room tasks to keep the vessel deployment‑ready.
• Perform maintenance, housekeeping, and watch‑standing duties, including lookout on the bridge.
• Support salvage operations, workshop jobs ashore, and equipment preparation for tow missions.
• Initiate safety measures, participate in drills, and report near‑misses or unsafe conditions using the Stop Work and Take 5 procedures.
• Provide induction training for visitors and authorized personnel when senior crew are unavailable.

Required profile

• II/4 – Nav Watch Rating – Unlimited.
• Basic Safety Training (STCW A‑VI/1) and Security Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (A‑VI/6).
• Valid Seafarer Medical certificate.
• Strong commitment to safety and ability to stop work when a task is unsafe.

Required skills

• Deck operations and watch‑keeping.

• Knowledge of safety management procedures (Stop Work, Take 5).
