Able Seaman Engine-2

About the role

Svitzer is seeking an Able Seaman Engine-2 to join its tug fleet. The role supports safe and efficient vessel operations under the guidance of the Chief Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Report to and follow instructions from the Chief Engineer.
• Perform engine‑room, deck and accommodation maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
• Propose and participate in safety initiatives, drills and training.
• Stop work immediately if a task is unsafe and inform the Master (Stop Work/Take 5).
• Report near‑miss incidents and comply with the company safety management system.
• Conduct induction training for visitors when senior crew are unavailable.

Required profile

• III/4 – Engine Watch Rating – Unlimited.
• STCW Basic Safety Training (A‑VI/1) and Security Training for Seafarers (A‑VI/6).
• Valid Seafarer Medical certificate.
• Minimum 24 months sea time as an Oiler.
• Good understanding of English preferred.
