AI Engineering Manager

About the role

The AI Engineering Manager will lead the design, development and operationalisation of artificial intelligence capabilities across the bank. Working closely with Enterprise Architecture, Data Engineering, Application Engineering, Cyber Security, Risk, Compliance and business stakeholders, the role ensures AI solutions are secure, scalable and governed.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of AI platforms and services across the bank.
• Develop components of the NBB Decision Intelligence Platform, including orchestration services, AI workflows, decision APIs and Human‑in‑the‑Loop capabilities.
• Establish AI engineering standards, reusable frameworks and best practices.
• Design and build secure APIs and micro‑services supporting AI‑enabled business processes using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Implement workflow orchestration mechanisms for automated and human‑approved decision processes.
• Design and deploy Agentic AI solutions and multi‑step AI agents for banking use cases.
• Integrate AI services with core banking, fraud, AML, data warehouse, digital channels and other enterprise systems.
• Develop and maintain AI Gateway capabilities for model routing and orchestration.
• Support deployment of Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) and generative AI solutions.
• Implement mechanisms to capture AI outputs, confidence scores and explainability data.
• Establish AI infrastructure, MLOps and LLMOps pipelines and model lifecycle management.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading AI platform design and implementation.
• Strong ability to collaborate with cross‑functional technology and business teams.
• Experience establishing engineering standards, governance and Human‑in‑the‑Loop controls for AI solutions.
