Arabic Teaching Assistant – Infant School

About the role

The British School of Bahrain, a selective coeducational independent school offering Nursery through Year 13, is recruiting a Bahraini Teaching Assistant for its Infant School to start in November 2026. The school follows the National Curriculum for England and Wales, offers IGCSE and A-Level/BTEC exams, and has 2,600 students aged 3-18.

Key responsibilities

• Support pupils during lessons as directed by the class teacher, and supervise and teach individuals, pairs or small groups as required.
• Prepare resources for lessons, prioritising ILN resources requested by the TA, and display pupils' work as requested.
• Supervise pupils in communal areas to maintain a high standard of behaviour.
• Provide duty cover for absent colleagues when asked by a line manager.
• Reward and sanction children in line with the school's Positive Behaviour policy.
• Act as a role model, promote the school positively, and refer parent comments, questions and complaints directly to the class teacher.
• Attend regular weekly meetings with the class teacher and carry out other reasonable tasks assigned by the Head of Infant School or line managers.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or relevant higher-level qualification or vocational training applicable to supporting pupil development.
• Minimum 3 years of teaching and learning support experience in the education sector.
• Experience dealing with children in an infant school.
• Ability to work as part of a team and independently, and to collaborate with colleagues and parents.
• Commitment to continuing professional development and to accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality.

Required skills

• Demonstrated knowledge and experience using ICT in teaching and learning support.
• Ability to manage commitments and deadlines.
