Backend Engineer AWS

About the role

Sellou is looking for a Backend Engineer with deep AWS expertise to build and maintain the services that power its digital marketplace. The position is full‑time and based on‑site in Manama, where you will work closely with product, design and front‑end teams to deliver reliable, high‑performance APIs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable server‑side applications and micro‑services.
• Integrate and manage AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, RDS, API Gateway and S3.
• Handle database design, data modeling, and query optimisation for relational and NoSQL stores.
• Collaborate with front‑end engineers to define and expose clean APIs.
• Write clean, testable code and maintain comprehensive documentation.
• Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve system architecture.

Required profile

• Strong background in back‑end web development and software engineering.
• Proficiency in object‑oriented programming and ability to produce maintainable code.
• Basic familiarity with front‑end development to work effectively with UI teams.
• Hands‑on experience with AWS cloud services and cloud‑native architectures.
• Knowledge of relational and/or NoSQL databases, data modelling and optimisation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Manama and take ownership of features from design to deployment.
